There are a number of boat trips to choose from including the boat ride to the Ile aux Oiseaux, a nature reserve in the middle of the bay, home to many different birds.
Banc d’Arguin, a huge sandbank opposite the Dune du Pilat, that changes with the wind and the currents is the nesting site of a variety of birds including the oyster catcher.
Or, see the bay from a pinasse, a traditional fishing boat, long with a high-front that allows it to negotiate the sand banks but also crashing waves. There are also sunset cruises, foodie cruises and more.
